Sometimes as believers, we do not realize the full blessings that we have. One of the chief blessings is the presence of God Himself in our lives. The Holy Spirit indwells all believers, and can help and guide us in our lives by His prompts and God’s Word.
Having the Holy Spirit is a true blessing, and makes us unique in the history of God and His dealings with humanity. Before the church, the nation of Israel had to go to the tabernacle or the temple to meet God. There, the direct presence of God came down and dwelt, and priests made intercessions.
We have the direct presence with God every day of our lives. We do not need a priest to intercede for us, because Jesus is our High Priest, and we are considered a holy priesthood as well, able to go before God at all times.
With God literally living in us, this gives new meaning to words of comfort, such as the Lord will never leave us. It is true. He is always with us and will never leave us.
He is also our guide and counselor, day-by-day. When we search the scriptures or are on our knees in prayer, the Holy Spirit is there, cleansing our minds by the truth of His Word and directing our hearts to pray for what is truly needed.
Praise God for His blessings! We live on this side of the cross, Jesus has come, died and rose. And now, we get to have the Holy Spirit live within us.
